Flat Blue

I took a whole new direction on this piece, painted out the background, and put in a mountain, some flat orange and trees. Something is still not right with it, so that stresses me out.

The red got turned into a flat blue, which I think helps the piece out a lot. I think these two are pretty close, and I would like to start another one, but time is running out D:

How I Met Brock

How I met Brock:

My friend Brooke pointed him out in the hallway outside of art class, and I became aware of who he was. After this glorious encounter, any time we would meet he would always be very sweet and respectful to me, which stood out from the actions of other high school guys. He was a gentleman to say the least. But I was always too shy to ask if he wanted to hang out.

Then, one fine day, (the day of the Oshkosh Holiday Parade) He and I were both at the Golden Corral™ and had a nice awkward meeting at the buffet. I lied and told him I thought the holiday parade was lame, even though I liked it, because I assumed other people probably think the holiday parade is a joke. But as he walked away from the awkward convergence, I knew in my heart that I now had feelings for this man.

Using my stalker instincts, I obtained the victims aim screen name (located conveniently on his facebook) and started talking to him on Thanksgiving Day. I was surprised when he didn't ask why I was talking to me, so we talked until it was time to eat the turkey. We continued to talk for hours this way, and I knew there was a real connection, as they say on those dating websites. We decided to hang out for the first time on December first 2007.
Our night out on the town is pretty much summed up by this image.
The next day he asked me to be his girlfriend, and there at school, I saw my new boyfriend sitting on the floor between some lockers, looking cute as can be.

So how this post relates to art besides the illustrations is that Brock has helped me on my art journey with the way he has made me think about concepts I never considered, and helps me push myself artistically, when it would be easy to settle for an average level of work. He gives honest critiques of my work, and supports me in my art shows. He has also helped me improve my health, which is important to making good art, unless you are Frida Kahlo. Idk. Anyway, by getting me into running, and researching what I eat, I have a clearer mind, and more energy to think of ideas for my artwork, and spend more time on my work. I love this man so much for his humor, kindness and intelligence. I know our meeting story isn't very epic, but thanks for checking it out!

I Love You Richard Parker

I was in the painting studio all day today, and this is what happened. The bright red area needs to go, so I'm trying to think of what color would fit better. This needs to get done soon though for my senior show in three weeks.

Spring Break Woo

I got a new tray for my teacup collection, which consists of four cups...>_> (fourth cup not pictured.)

I worked on the cheetah today, so he didn't look so flat and gave him some depth. I was too tired to paint as much as I wanted to today, but at least it's spring break now, and I can get back to it when I'm less fatigued. I'm a baby when it comes to my sleep. What can you do.

I refined this white bird, who was looking pretty muddy greenish-gray.

Sculpting a Face

I worked on developing the face on my newest painting today. I start out with a very rough paint sketch with some blocked in values, and build from there.
Progression so far:

Threadless Design

Could anyone who is visiting this page take a look at my design, and score it? Thanks! ^_^

painting video with horrible public domain music.

How this painting began in video form ^

Plastic Surgery

The face got a makeover to make her look more assertive, and hopefully have more presence in the painting. I also added more color to the hair so it wasn't so gray, and lifted the purple flower over her face more to add mystery. I think this painting is finally finished, except for some very minor changes...
