How I Met Brock

How I met Brock:

My friend Brooke pointed him out in the hallway outside of art class, and I became aware of who he was. After this glorious encounter, any time we would meet he would always be very sweet and respectful to me, which stood out from the actions of other high school guys. He was a gentleman to say the least. But I was always too shy to ask if he wanted to hang out.

Then, one fine day, (the day of the Oshkosh Holiday Parade) He and I were both at the Golden Corral™ and had a nice awkward meeting at the buffet. I lied and told him I thought the holiday parade was lame, even though I liked it, because I assumed other people probably think the holiday parade is a joke. But as he walked away from the awkward convergence, I knew in my heart that I now had feelings for this man.

Using my stalker instincts, I obtained the victims aim screen name (located conveniently on his facebook) and started talking to him on Thanksgiving Day. I was surprised when he didn't ask why I was talking to me, so we talked until it was time to eat the turkey. We continued to talk for hours this way, and I knew there was a real connection, as they say on those dating websites. We decided to hang out for the first time on December first 2007.
Our night out on the town is pretty much summed up by this image.
The next day he asked me to be his girlfriend, and there at school, I saw my new boyfriend sitting on the floor between some lockers, looking cute as can be.

So how this post relates to art besides the illustrations is that Brock has helped me on my art journey with the way he has made me think about concepts I never considered, and helps me push myself artistically, when it would be easy to settle for an average level of work. He gives honest critiques of my work, and supports me in my art shows. He has also helped me improve my health, which is important to making good art, unless you are Frida Kahlo. Idk. Anyway, by getting me into running, and researching what I eat, I have a clearer mind, and more energy to think of ideas for my artwork, and spend more time on my work. I love this man so much for his humor, kindness and intelligence. I know our meeting story isn't very epic, but thanks for checking it out!
